Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training


Course overview

Developed in partnership with The Bikeability Trust, the 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training is designed to prepare learners for employment as cycle training instructors specifically working to, and delivering, the National Standard for Cycle Training. It is relevant for learners who aspire to become cycle training instructors in England and it sits within a progressive suite of cycle training qualifications.

 

Course pre-requisites

  • You must be at least 18 years of age.

  • You must be a regular on-road cyclist, who is confident riding in traffic at a standard that meets Bikeability Level 3 environment and who can pass that confidence on to others. This is a very practical course that involves considerable time on bikes.

  • You must have access to a helmet, suitable clothing for all weathers, a roadworthy bike and bike lock for each day of the course.

  • Any experience of teaching or coaching young people and adults is beneficial and encouraged.

  • If you would like to join Cycle Confident subsequently as a freelance instructor, you will be required to complete a DBS check. Bikeability is delivered in schools and clubs and through private tuition. It is a regulated activity and, as such, instructors are required to have an Enhanced DBS with Child Barred List check.
