Bike Right ride leader course

The aim of this course is to equip participants with the skills to lead and supervise cycle rides, on and off road, and to encourage cycling as a sustainable healthy activity in their local communities. The course is a 1 day course for groups and on completion all of the participants will be able to organise and lead cycle rides.

During the course trainees will cover the following aspects of leading rides:

• What is a ride leader?
• Benefits and barriers of cycling
• Role of a cycle leader
• Preparing for a ride
• Riding techniques
• Leader positioning during rides
• Route planning
• Risk assessments
• Dealing with accidents/incidents
• Bicycle check and fitting helmets
• Pre-ride information for clients
